Join us to learn about Glass Fusion from sculptor and East Kent Women in Business member, Jeannette Cook.

Jeannette works with many and varied materials creating organic pieces from papier mache and expanding foam, making jewellery from silver, wire, and semi-precious stones. She fell in love with the delights of glass fusion a few years ago, and finds this her medium of choice.

Glass fusion can be an exciting business. Many glasses completely alter in colour on firing, or react with each other, so the finished piece may differ greatly in appearance from when it went in to the kiln – the addition of metals or other inclusions can create some amazing visual effects. Opening the lid of the kiln is a thrilling moment – but occasionally things can go awry and the moment may swiftly be followed by crushing disappointment!

Check out Jeannette’s website with examples of her work.

Come along and learn about how these amazing pieces are created.
